Rhinobatos lionotus Norman, 1926

Type locality: East channel, mouth of Hughli [Hooghly] River, India, depth 40 fathoms.

Etymology: leios (= smooth); notos (= back), referring to minute skin denticles, presumably on dorsal surface, which are “smooth to the touch”. (From: The ETYFish project)
