Pseudobatos percellens (Walbaum, 1792)

  • No types known.

Type locality: Brazil.

Etymology: percellens (= smiting), perhaps referring to Walbaum’s mistaken belief that it can produce an electric shock when held in the hand (“Quando manu tangitur ictu electrico ferit.”). (From: The ETYFish Project)
