Diagnosis: Pertusariae carneopallidae similis sed differt apotheciis pluribus in quoque verruca, separatis excipulis tenuibus, pruina conferta et valvis thallinis obtectis. Etiam differt praesentia acidi stictici et acidi 5-O-methylhiascici (haud lecanorici).
Type: U.S.A. Alaska. Skagway Borough, Chilkoot Trail, just above trailhead, on Saintly Hill, 59o30.855'N, 135o20.573'W, lignicolous on Betula papyrifera log, 85 m elev., 07 Oct 2007, T. Spribille 24580 & L. Fairchild (F, holotype; NY, isotype).
Etymology: Pertusaria mccroryae is dedicated to the memory of Colleen McCrory (1950-2007), co-founder of the Valhalla Wilderness Society.
Habitat and distribution: Pertusaria mccroryae is a species of old forests, at low elevations. It has been found on the bark of trunks of Picea sitchensis, Thuja plicata and Tsuga heterophylla and twigs of Tsuga mertensiana as well as lignicolous on Betula papyrifera, Picea glauca and Tsuga heterophylla at elevations of near sea level to 1700 m, and on Abies amabilis in Oregon. It is known from the U.S.A. (Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon) and British Columbia, Canada.
