Name

Ophiolebes asaphes H.L. Clark, 1911

Holotype: USNM 25738, 2 specimens (see H.L. Clark, 1911)

Type locality: Albatross: station 5018, off Saghalin, 46°41'30" N143°57'40"E. Depth: 100 fathoms, brown mud, black stones, pebbles, bottom temperature 30.4°.

Syntypes (see Downey, 1969):

Etymology: from the Ancient Greek: ἀσαφής (asaphḗs, indistinct), in reference to the indistinctness of many of the plates.
