Type locality: Brazil, Aparados da Serra National Park, Cambará do Sul (29°05’ to 29°15’S, 50°00’ to 50°15’ W)

Holotype: MZUSP PL. 2159

Paratypes: MZU PL. 273; MZU PL. 274

Etymology: from Latin subtīlis (“subtle”), refering to its subtle body stripes and subtle differences to Luteostriata ceciliae [Boll, Amaral & Leal-Zanchet, 2019: 536]
