Name

Limnocythere esphigmena Sieber, 1905

• Type locality: Meteorite or impact crater, Steinheim Basin, (48°41′12″N, 10°03′54″E), Baden-Württemberg, southern Germany, Europe.
• Type horizon: Fossil lake sediments (mainly trochiformis and oxystoma beds), estimated age of lifetime: around 14,000,000 years ago, Miocene, Neogene, Tertiary, Cenozoic.
• Proposed change of binomen: Leucocythere esphigmena (Sieber, 1905) Janz, 1992
• Remarks: Limnocythere was erroneously spelled Limnicythere.
