Holotype: BMNH 1884.4.22.46a, collected by Challenger Expedition on 2 July 1873.

Type locality: “Station 75; lat. 38°37' N., long. 28°30' W.; off the Azores; depth, 450 fathoms [=822 m]; sand”.
