- Holotype: female dissected on 21 slides (reg. no. SMF 37133/1-21) from station 1164.
- Type locality: Norwegian Sea (IceAGE cruise M85/3, 1164).
- Etymology: from the Latin talpa, meaning a mole, and the ancient Greek lexeme μορφώ (morphó), “the Shapely One”.
