Gigantocypris australis Poulsen, 1962

Type locality: Pelagic, at a water depth between 300 and 5000 metres, Station 3627-I (30º8'S, 176º50'W), northeast of New Zealand, Pacific Ocean.
Remarks: With a length of up to 30 mm, female representatives of this species are the largest living Ostracoda described until now.
