Holotype: MNHN -IU-2013-13617, ♂, 23 July 1984.

Type locality: New Caledonia. Chesterfield Islands. CHALCAL 84, Stn CP12, 20°34.30'S, 158°47.40'E, 67 m.

Etymology: Melobosis is one of the children of the Ocean in Greek mythology.
