- Type locality: Shelly beach sand, Berwick-upon-Tweed, England.
- Material: Only empty valves were described.
- Change of binomen: G. O. Sars (1866) described the animal, and as Sclerochilus contortus (Norman, 1862) Sars, 1866 it became the type species of the genus Sclerochilus G. O. Sars, 1866.
