  • Syntypes (n=7): BMNH 1887.2.4.150-154 (5 specimens), collected by Challenger Expedition on 14 February 1876 and BMNH 1887.2.4.155-157 (3 specimens), collected by Challenger Expedition on 20 January 1876.
  • Type locality: “Station 320 (off the coast of Buenos Ayres), 600 fathoms” and “Station 313 (Strait of Magellan), 55 fathoms”.
