- Type locality: Shelf Lake Number 3, Snowy Range, Wyoming, USA; altitude 3316 m, 41°22′43.2′′N, 106°17′20.9′′W.
- Etymology: The species is dedicated to the life-long studies of Charles Everett King, from Oregon State University, on ecology and genetics of rotifers.
