  1. Operator:Juliancolton | Talk 05:37, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Automatic or Manually Assisted: Manually assisted (most of the time)
  3. Programming Language(s): AWB
  4. Function Summary: Substitutes {{BASEPAGENAME}}
  5. Edit period(s) (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): one time run
  6. Already has a bot flag (Y/N): no
  7. Function Details: I was reliably informed that using BASEPAGENAME to display the names of species is discouraged. I decided to, with the help of w:User:MZMcBride, check how many articles do so. According to the database dump results, several thousand articles fall into that category. The bot would substitute all uses of the aforementioned "magic word" where applicable. For examples of the edits, see this. It's useful, harmless, and is a valid task IMO. –Juliancolton | Talk 05:37, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
See User:JCbot; alternatively I suppose I could do this manually on my main account with AWB, but that runs the risk of flooding RC beyond all recognition. –Juliancolton | Talk 05:40, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Those are relics from the old format. I have no objections to let this bot on go trial run. Approved for trial (100 edits). OhanaUnitedTalk page 17:39, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Task is  Done. Don't know if you want to let it keep the flag or not. –Juliancolton | Talk 16:31, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
