Welcome to Wikispecies!
Hello, and welcome to Wikispecies! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:
- Help:Contents provides a good introduction to editing Wikispecies.
- Templates are there to help you to follow our syntax and formatting standards.
- Have a look at Done and to do.
If you have named a taxon, then it is likely that there is (or will be) a Wikispecies page about you, and other pages about your published papers. Please see our advice and guidance for taxon authors.
If you have useful images to contribute to Wikispecies, please upload them at Wikimedia Commons. This is also true for video or audio files containing bird songs, whale vocalization, etc.
Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username (if you're logged in) and the date. Please also read the Wikispecies policy What Wikispecies is not. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or in the Village Pump. Again, welcome! OhanaUnitedTalk page 20:13, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Please improve your edits.
editThanks for contributing to Wikispecies, but currently your edits are not formatted with compliance to our standards.
For example: you edited Ligiidae like this:
==Taxonavigation== Ligiamorpha *Group: Diplochaeta *Familia: Ligiidae **Genera: ***Caucasoligidium Borutzky, 1950 ***Ligia Fabricius, 1798 ***Ligidioides Wahrberg, 1922 ***Ligidium Brandt, 1833 ***Stymphalus Budde-Lund, 1879 ***Tauroligidium Borutzky, 1950 ***Typhloligidium Verhoeff, 1918 ==Reference== SCHMALFUSS, H. (2003): World catalog of terrestrial isopods (Isopoda: Oniscidea). – Stuttgarter Beiträge zur Naturkunde, Serie A, Nr. 654: 341 pp.
It should be like this:
==Taxonavigation== Ligiamorpha Group: Diplochaeta <br /> Familia: Ligiidae <br /> Genera: Caucasoligidium Ligia Ligidioides Ligidium Stymphalus Tauroligidium Typhloligidium ==Name== Ligiidae ==Reference== * SCHMALFUSS, H. (2003): World catalog of terrestrial isopods (Isopoda: Oniscidea). – Stuttgarter Beiträge zur Naturkunde, Serie A, Nr. 654: 341 pp.
Then you have to open for each genus a separate page, and only there you can fill in the author's details. If you have the familia author's details, add them in the name section. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to refer to my talk page: user talk:Mariusm

Improvement in Ligiidae
editThanks for the corrections!
I changed the name section of Ligiidae - adding author info - please take a look how the author's info should be written.

Thanks for warning me + the useful advice! I'm revisiting all my entries, it takes a little time...
All the best,

Some more improvements
editI noticed a couple or so of improvements you should make to your edits:
1) Author details at the name section - instead of writing:
Trachelipus longipennis (Budde-Lund, 1885)
it is prefered:
Trachelipus longipennis (Budde-Lund, 1885)
The double brakets permits to link to the author's page. Use the aut template only in the reference section like this:
* SCHMALFUSS, H. (2003): World catalog of terrestrial isopods (Isopoda: Oniscidea). – Stuttgarter Beiträge zur Naturkunde, Serie A, Nr. 654: 341 pp.
2) When you type the species name, which is also the page's name dont use the abbreviated form, but the full name.
Instead of writing:
Genus: Trachelipus <br /> Species: T
write:
Genus: Trachelipus<br /> Species: Trachelipus longipennis
Use the templates sp & g only on the lists of genera at family page, and list of species at the genus page.
3) Use the full species name + author name in the Synonyms section like this:
===Synonyms=== * Porcellio longipennis Budde-Lund, 1885
Thanks again, Mariusm 05:57, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
Some more advice
editYou're doing fine, only don't add links on species names at the Name and Synonyms sections -- (don't add the [[]] there). At these sections only author's names need to be linked.

Some more advice
edit1) The familia needs to be also linked, so you have to write:
Familia: Trachelipodidae <br />
2) You can make the work somewhat easier by creating templates, so you won't have to type again and again:
Ligiamorpha Family: Trachelipodidae <br /> Genus: Trachelipus <br />
You can create a template for Genus Trachelipus:
In the search box type: Template:Trachelipus and press Go. A window will open saying if you want to create the page. in the empty window type:
Ligiamorpha Family: Trachelipodidae <br /> Genus: Trachelipus <br />
Now instead of the three lines you have to type only:
Trachelipus
deleting pages
editHi there, did you mean to have Cretoniscellus deleted? If so you can add reaon for deleting to the page and one of the admins will delete it. --Open2universe | Talk 12:29, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
What?
editYou appear to have recently blanked a number of pages without providing any explanation for doing such. Please now explain your actions. -- Anonymous DissidentTalk 08:34, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
