There are 1.7 million identified species for a 10 millions estimated total. In november 2008, the genone of 13774 species have sequenced and are totally identified.

Thank you for your speedy action. Thank to an italian university " Cus-mi-Bio ", i learned that More than 100 organisations from over 40 countries in 6 continents are now involved at the present time, the CBOL database (www.barcoding life.org) has 404,146 records representing 40,110 species, a small proportion of the total biodiversity on earth, but a remarkable achievement for the first four years of its existence.
