Guidelines
editHi. don't worry, those (unwritten?) guidelines are about to be rewritten soon anyway ;-) Lycaon 22:48, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
Re: RFC III
editIt's a problem. There are not many standards. Some standards were silents agreements between individual, and it became a standard over time. We do know Wikispecies is solely dealing with Taxonomy and Nomenclature, anything not dealing about that, should not be here. We also know this project will be ported into Wikidata...when it is finished. I made a first attempt for a manual, this week, trying to write down unwritten rules. Also made sections that are trying to adress topics that have been brought up in the past by people. (For example your idea of the name section bringing to the top) Take a look at the help section: Kempm/Help:Contents rev1 --Kempm 16:21, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
- I think you explained it right. I only have 2 real concerns. 1. being that changes to the trees took too much time. (That's gonna be resolved with the new layout.) 2. There are no real rules on this project, even though Wikimedia urged us to keep strict formatting. What the actual formatting should look like is less important to me, as long as we have a consensus for it. Once there is a consensus I can make it a 'rule'.
- Point 1. is in the point of no return phase, so no need to discuss this anymore (Unless we start another project for another change). Don't think we can go back. For point 2. I am in the process to find consensus. --Kempm 13:28, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
- OK, you know, I'm just visiting here, so please excuse my ignorance to the timeline ;) Maybe it would be worth discussing again in the next major change but is not worth the effort to start a change per se. Ignore what I have asked (for a while). -- Bggoldie 08:19, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- Nono, please do get involved, I need any feedback, and ideas --Kempm 09:04, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

BOT
editIf you're willing to run a bot that would be appreciated. What we need is to find a way to validate a page for proper formatting. If possible correct the page, if not add a category. (So we can manually update). Perhaps we can brainstorm a bit on that. I think I need till next sunday or so, to update all templates. Somewhere after that we can think of other changes. --Kempm 22:42, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
- I was willing and still do. However my ISP decided to ruin my weekend cutting me from the Big Wire. Calling them Monday morning resolved the issue but I am still lacking the time machine. So the bot-tests are re-scheduled for the next weekend. -- Bggoldie 08:21, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed
editHello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Bggoldie. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Bggoldie~specieswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name. If you think you might own all of the accounts with this name and this message is in error, please visit Special:MergeAccount to check and attach all of your accounts to prevent them from being renamed.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
