Space before {{subst:reftemp}}

edit

There is the following recommendation in the documentation (emphasis added): "The {{subst:reftemp}} code string should always be added as the very last part of a reference template page, without any leading space."

Does it really matter? Are there special cases where adding a space should be avoided? Here are a few tests: [1]; there is no difference in the rendering (only in the wikitext). Korg (talk) 14:22, 15 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

I think that recommendation is there only because the template already includes a leading space. But yes, substituting the template with a leading space creates a double space in the text, which is rendered the same as a single space on Wikispecies. Thanks! I'm wondering what is the utility of the leading space in the template, but I haven't thought too much about it yet. Korg (talk) 16:02, 15 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
