It still appears to be disputed if Placozoa are the most basal Metazoa (=Animalia), or else belong somewhere basal within Eumetazoa

- I don't think this dispute is current. Right now it's between Porifera and Ctenophora being the most basal. Nearly everyone agrees that Placozoa is in an intermediate position, i.e., more basal than (Bilateria+Cnidaria), but not the most basal. They just don't exactly where until the other issue is resolved. Zyxwv99 (talk) 22:36, 4 September 2015 (UTC)
