The sinking of all or most species of these genera into the expanded Melaleuca, as suggested by Edwards et al., 2010, has yet to a gain complete acceptance. As an example, for Callistemon see Udovicic & Spencer, 2012, but Govaerts et al., 2016 has the contrary view. The older taxa pages for the genera sensu Wilson et al., 2005 are kept for now, but see Melaleuca s.l. for the synonymy. Andyboorman (talk) 18:53, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
- There is still no consensus and as WS can not take sides in taxonomic opinions we should consider resurrecting taxon pages for genera that are accepted in Australian botanic communities, whilst maintaining a page for Melaleuca s.l. sensu Craven et al. (2014) and Govaerts et al. (2021). Andyboorman (talk) 20:39, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
