The status, affinity, scope or nomenclature of this taxon is disputed

Our Barbus taxon page was marked with a "Disputed" template in 30 November 2012 by @Haps, but the taxon name is currently listed as valid by Eschmeyer's Catalog of Fishes (CoF). Note however that CoF lists Daudin, 1805 as author, whilst our Wikispecies page currently says Cuvier & Cloquet, 1816. Please see:

FishBase is on the same line, currently listing 36 species as valid members of the Barbus genus: Scientific Names where Genus Equals Barbus (list of valid names only, not showing 1,148 subspecies and synonyms).
