I'm going to go with lowercase "de" too, based on 1) some of his own works linked in BHL (see the BHL creator page), idRef, and a biography from after he was unable to write anymore ([1]). He is also mentioned in more recent publications such as [2]. From what I've read up, the particle "de" is lowercase in names of people from France, but it may be capitalised for names of people from Belgium?
