Diagnosis: Habitu ad speciem Placopsis cribellans reminiscens. Steinerae sorediatae similis sed differt soraliis destitutis in vicem lobulis superficialibus basaliter constrictis instructis. A Steinera glaucella differt praesentia corticis superioris paraplectenchymatici bene evoluti.

Type: U.S.A. Alaska. Skagway Borough, White Pass, 59o37.147'N, 135o09.657'W, on rock in snowbed with very late-lying snow, 1051 m elev., 31 Jul 2008, T. Spribille 26809 & S. Pérez Ortega (US, holotype; NY, isotype)

Habitat and distribution: Saxicolous in alpine snowbeds and around intermittent alpine pools. So far known only from two sites in Alaska: White Pass and Thompson Pass, near Valdez.
