Basionym: Parmelia hypoleucites Nyl., 1858
Substrate and ecology (Sonoran region): Primarily in oak-pine forests on bark of various hardwoods (Acer, Alnus, Arbutus, Quercus, Fraxinus, Prosopis, Prunus, Salix, Willardia) and conifers (Cupressus, Juniperus, Pinus, Pseudotsuga) between 700 and 2560 meters.
