Etymology: named after the late Bruce Ryan, Lichen Herbarium at Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona, USA.
Type: Mexico, Baja California: Punta Santa Tomas.
Life habit: lichenized, lichenicolous at least when young.
Substrate and ecology: In maritime, arid to semi-arid habitats, initially lichenicolous on Dimelaena radiata, Tephromela atra or Verrucaria sp., eventually independent on acid rocks.
