Substrate and ecology: On open siliceous rock outcrops, including lava flows at very dry and/or sunny sites at coastal sites to inland ones at moderate elevation.

World distribution: Western Mediterranean Europe, northern Africa, Macaronesia, and southwestern North Ameica
