Syntypes (3): MNHN-IK-2012-16036, collected by Challenger Expedition on 27 December 1873.

Type locality: “Station 145, lat. 46°40' S., long. 37°50' E.; depth, 310 and 150 fathoms [=567 and 274 m]”, off Prince Edward Island, South Africa.
