Typus: Llewelyn Williams 1772 (in flower, 26 July 1929; Holotypus: F [V0040932F (604569)^{(GBIF, JSTOR)}]).
Type locality: PERU. Department of Loreto: Pebas, on the Amazon River, in forest.
