Typus: R.C. Gunn 304/1837 (February 1837; K(-K000349218, -K000349219), 'type' sensu Oliver 1935: 36; isotypi: GH-GH00092558, P-P02285192).
Type locality: Australia. Tasmania: Middlesex Plains and Middlesex River.
- Note: there exists a 'syntype' with the same collector and the number, but with different date (18 February 1843) and locality ([Australia.] Tasmania: Near Arthur's Lakes) stored in K (K000349217).

Notes

Coprosma repens Hook.f., Bot. Antarct. Voy. I. (Flora Antarctica): 22, t. 16, B. (1844), nom. illeg., non A.Rich. (1832) had been once cited as a synonym of C. pumila by Oliver (1935: 33), but was later placed under Coprosma perpusilla subsp. subantarctica by Orchard (1986).
