• Typus: O.L. Haught 4712 (25 May 1945, in flower; F [​V0068469F (1175404)^{(CRIA, GBIF, JSTOR)}, holotype fide Taylor], US [​US00137659 (1709225)^{(GBIF, JSTOR, speciesLink)}, annotated as 'Holotype' by Steyermark in 1964]; Isotypes: COL [holotype fide Delprete & Cortés-B. 2016; COL000004559 (24211)^{(GBIF, JSTOR)}], MO [​fide Taylor 2011]).
  • Note: no institution is specified in the protologue; C.M. Taylor suspects that holotype is the F specimen, even though it is annotated as isotype by D. Simpson (vide Tropicos).
• Type locality: Colombia. [Antioquia:] forest on Quebrada Congo, Río Chigorodo, 10 km S of Turbo, alt. ca. 120 m.
