Abrotanella purpurea Swenson (1995:190)

• Etymology: After the floret colors that differentiate it from the closely related Abrotanella trichoachaenia Cabr. (Swenson, 1995:190).
• Type locality: "North-eastern slope of Cerro Ferrier" (51° 07' S, 73° 10' W), Parque Nacional Torres del Paine, Última Esperanza Province, Chile
• Holotype: Swenson & Martinsson 323 (UPS; isotypes CONC, HIP, K, L, S).
