- According to APNI (2010), the correct authority is (F.Muell.) F.Muell. (1865; Pl. Victoria:pl. 40), but I have not been able to verify this.

- Etymology: from Latin nivis ("snow") and gena ("eye") (Swenson, 1995:172).
- Type locality: "summits of the Munyang Mountains", New South Wales, Australia.
- As given in Swenson (1998:172), who indicates a posterior (1946) note by Willis: "apparently on the higher part of Kosciusko Plateau".
- Lectotype: Mueller s.n. (MEL; isolectotypes K, L, MEL)
