Mantellinae

edit

The species - names like Mantella aurantiaca - should be listed on the page for the genus, Mantella - if you look there you will see this has indeed been done. Eventually we hope there will be a page for each species - the ideal place for photos - but it will take a long while to be anywhere near complete. Notice also that the second word in the species name should be all lowercase, and when several are listed under a genus it is traditional to abbreviate the displayed (but not the linked) genus name. This can be done longhand ''[[Mantella aurantiaca|M. aurantiaca]]'' or by using a template {{sp|M|antella|aurantiaca}} as I have done. Welcome to Wikispecies, BTW.--Keith Edkins (Talk) 19:30, 28 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your welcome. I'll use the example you provided. I take it the template is preferable to the manual form so the format can change automatically at some future point if desired.

Since it's not possible to shoot an entity at anything but the species level (as I understand it)... should I create an article stub so I can add the photo, should I list the photo on someone's to-do list somewhere (and if so, where), or should I put it on my own pending list and wait for the link to turn from red to blue (meaning someone else has created the article)? I'm a total noob here, but I'm a fast learner, and I expect to conform to this wiki's standards. Please don't hesitate to point me in the right direction as needed. Thanks again.
