Type locality: MEXICO. Chihuahua, ridge crest area along a secondary dirt road to Casas Grandes from Bavispé, Sonora, on Juniperus, 30o24'20"N, 108o24'20"W, 2180 m, T.H. Nash 36378 (ASU-holotype, designated here: CANB, MEXU, US and hb. Kalb, isotypes).

Substrate and ecology (for the Sonoran region:) On bark of Juniperus and Pseudotsuga menziesii.
