• Holotype: FMNH 18583, adult ♂, skin and skull, collected by W.H. Osgood and S.G. Jewett on 18 February 1911.
• Type locality: “Paramo de Tama [= Páramo de Tamá], head of Rio Tachira [= Río Táchira], Santander [= Norte de Santander], Colombia”.
