Google Books
edit@RLJ: We can 'search inside' at Google Books, with which I gained crucial information such as authorship, collation and type protologues on Cousinia anoplophylla and C. firuzkuhensis (please note that their current PWO and IPNI records are not accurate and even lack their author information, so I have sent the latter reports citing Google Books contents), so I strongly oppose your removal unless you or someone else could provide an alternative online resource. Although what we can view there is limited, multiple versions enable us to access more pages. --Eryk Kij (talk) 08:58, 9 February 2023 (UTC)
- This concerns every printed book without online availability. So shall we place links to Google snippets into all templates concerning offline literature?? Compared to the offline book which is available to me the snippets give only very fragmented, far from complete information nor a considerable part of it. The link could be placed directly in the article, outside the template, if necessary. --RLJ (talk) 14:45, 9 February 2023 (UTC)
- @RLJ: I have not differentiated fragmentally accessible resources from fully available ones when providing links to templates since both give readers opportunities to access sources more or less. Do you think these two sorts should be explicitly distinguished depending on their extent of accessibility? --Eryk Kij (talk) 20:15, 9 February 2023 (UTC)
- @RLJ: Let's go on at Village Pump since I have failed to find out any general consensus on this topic made so far. --Eryk Kij (talk) 05:04, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
