Template:Not a typo
This template can be used to encapsulate deliberate or apparent typos to save them from correction by bots and automated wiki-editors. Its purpose is to indicate passages that might appear incorrect to an automated tool, but which are actually correct. It has no effect on the rendered wikitext.
Any of four names can be used:
{{Not a typo}}
for items that are actually correct; for example, "he put a little english on the ball", in which "english" is not capitalised.{{Typo}}
for items that are deliberately incorrect, either because we are illustrating a point, or because it is a direct quote. (It is better to use{{Sic|hide=y}}
in quotations.){{Proper name}}
for names, such as Flouride (not fluoride) or Pharoah (not pharaoh).{{As written}}
For situations where the spelling is not deliberately incorrect or correct; for example, a book title: "Pardoe, Julia. The Life of Marie de Medici" as "Marie de' Medici" has multiple spellings.
Also be aware of:
{{Lang}}
for other-language text.{{Sic}}
, which can be used to mark up text, thus [sic], or invisibly.

- In some cases it may be beneficial to obfuscate the text so that it isn't included when searching for particular patterns. In order to achieve this,
{{Not a typo}}
supports two parameters, allowing the text to be broken up at an arbitrary position.
{{Not a typo|patt|ern}}
instead of{{Not a typo|pattern}}
- → pattern
