Abstract

• The genus Ranolus Blair, 1929 stat.nov., a former subgenus of Attagenus Latreille, 1802, is raised to generic rank. The type species is Ranolus cavernicola (Blair, 1929) comb.nov. The single species is redescribed, illustrated and compared with members of the related genus Attagenus Latreille, 1802, the subgenera Attagenus (s.str.) and Aethriostoma Motschulsky, 1858. All Malayan species belonging to the tribe Attagenini are listed.
