- it is presently unclear whether to treat Podocera as a valid genus, a valid subgenus of Stenomicra, or a synonym of Stenomicra
- Papp in Papp et al. (2006) treated Podocera as a valid genus, describing two new species, which have never been published in combination with Stenomicra, and therefore must be cited herein as Podocera claripennis and Podocera variegata
- Grimaldi (2009) reverted to a more inclusive concept of Stenomicra, not mentioning Podocera, except for one reference in passing: '... which is virtually lost in Stenomicra, particularly in the subgenus Podocera' (p. 27)
