Talk:Nothofagaceae

Note: The proposed segregation of Nothofagus s.l. by Heenan, & Smissen, (2013) into 4 genera is gaining some acceptance, particularly in New Zealand with their native species (Breitwieser et al. (2014)) and their circumscription is shown here. However, as Heenan, & Smissen accept in their paper, the maintenance of the status quo, i.e. Nothofagus s.l, is not unreasonable and the segragation has yet to gain universal acceptance (Vergara et al. (2014).
- Breitwieser, Heenan & Smissen are all botanists for Landcare Research, so it is not surprising that Breitwieser et. al. accept the changes of Heenan, & Smissen. This is not independent agreement. Stho002 (talk) 22:13, 20 September 2014 (UTC)
The segregation into minor genera is generally accepted in New Zealand but less so elsewhere. Andyboorman (talk) 14:23, 5 February 2019 (UTC)
