NOTE: Macfarlaneet al. (2010: 422), list this species without any indication of doubt regarding its provenance or identity. The genus was indicated as 'D = doubtfully established in New Zealand' by Leschenet al. (2003: 21), so in the absence of any evidence to indicate that this doubt can now be safely removed, I maintain the question mark for both genus and species. I strongly suspect that it is in fact the same species as the common New Zealand Ochosternus zealandicus.
