Crespo et al. (2015) presents an alternative circumscription for Iris s.l. that, as well as Iris s.s., includes up to 23 segregated genera that could include; Alatavia, Belamcanda, Chamaeiris, Cryptobasis, Dielsiris, Eremiris, Evansia, Gattenhofia, Hermodactylus, Iridodictyum, Joniris, Juno, Junopsis, Limniris, Lophiris, Pardanthopsis, Phaeiris, Rodionenkoa, Sclerosiphon, Siphonostylis, Syrianthus, Tectiris, Xiphion, Zhaoanthus see also Mavrodiev et al., (2014).
