Talk:Haplochromini

Greenwood (1979, 1980) broke up the large genus Haplochromis into many smaller genera, not always well diagnosed. This has been controversial; many later workers have not followed Greenwood's reclassification scheme, and refer all, or most, "traditional" Haplochromis species to Haplochromis until further revisional work clarifies matters. Here at WikiSpecies, we have generally followed Catalog of Fishes (sometimes FishBase, if different: Thoracochromis), which often assigns species from Greenwood's small genera to Haplochromis.
