The Family Galagidae has 3 extant genera and 19 species.

Formerly considered a subfamily of Lorisidae; see Hill and Meester (1977:2) and Jenkins (1987:85). The correct form of the name is Galagonidae (see Jenkins, 1987:1), but Galagidae was conserved by Opinion 1995 of the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature (2002).
