Talk:Faramea affinis

status disputed (but with clues)

As I have mentioned in the entry, Brazilian botanists and C.M. Taylor place Faramea affinis under F. calyciflora, while PWO treats them as separate taxa. As for this case, some clues are available. Mario Gomes, botanist of Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden, re-determined the syntypes of F. affinis in BR with F. calyciflora, all in 1993. Later, Gomes published a work pertaining to flora of Nova Friburgo, Rio de Janeiro (Gomes 1996). I have failed to obtain information related to the both names from that work through Google Books, but there still remains possibility since Google Books does not show all texts of limited preview works like this case. Apart from the above-mentioned determination histories in BR and Flora do Brasil entry in 2015, I have failed to retrieve any trace of Gomes' taxonomic mention about F. affinis and F. calyciflora. --Eryk Kij (talk) 07:09, 26 November 2022 (UTC)
