Etymology and description

Etymology: The specific epithet refers to the isodiametric feature of the filaments’ cells. From Greek ἴσος (isos) – equal and διάμετρος (diametros) – diameter.

Description: Filaments long, irregularly joined in clusters, straight, curved or wavy, occasionally false branched. Sheaths firm, thin, colorless, containing one and rarely two or three trichomes. Trichomes not attenuated towards ends. Cells more or less isodiametric, 2.19–1.00 μm in length and 0.92–1.94 μm in width. Thylakoids (five to six) arranged peripherally. End cells rounded.
