Redirect is not appropriate

Citrus limonia is not the same as Citrus limon. I have removed the wikispecies item from wikidata, but working out how this mess originated is beyond me. Could someone please fix this. Sminthopsis84 (talk) 09:05, 2 August 2024 (UTC)

Citrus x limona is an orthographic variant and as such is one of the numerous synonyms of Citrus × limon, according to POWO, most of which do not appear on WS. It is a cultigen now found growing in wild in many countries with numerous cultivars. It is borderline inscope for WS. Therefor the "mess" does not need a fix, unless you can provide robust references demonstrating the separation is valid. Please note that orthographic variants can normally be autocorrected, even if they are based upon the originally published name. Andyboorman (talk) 10:42, 2 August 2024 (UTC)
