- Type locality: Howth, Co. Dublin, Ireland.
- Holotype: epiphytic on a species of Rhizoclonium; TCD?
- Epitype (designated by Darienko et al., 2021): strain CCMP 257 cryopreserved in metabolically inactive state at the Bigelow National Center for Marine Algae and Microbiota, East Boothbay, Maine, US.
