Basionym

  • Sticta pubescens Müll.Arg., Bull. Soc. Roy. Bot. Belgique 31(2): 28 (1892). [MycoBank #406350]
(non Sticta pubescens Pers. in Hue, Nouv. Arch. Mus. Hist. Nat., Ser. 3, 2(2): 304 (1890). [Sticta pubescens Pers. (1827) is a mistake of Parmelia pubescens.])
Zahlbruckner (1925: 356) in publishing a new name [Sticta muelleriana] for S. pubescens is in error, since Persoon (1827: 199) never published Sticta pubescens as Zahlbruckner states in the Catalogus. Rather, he described Parmelia pubescens, which is a synonym of the South American taxon Pseudocyphellaria endochrysa (Galloway: 1986a). (Galloway, D.J. 1988. Bull. Br. Mus. Nat. Hist., Bot. 17: 229.)
