  • Solanum quercifolium L. (1753:185), nom. rej.
    • Based on the mistaken geographical attribution by Linnaeus, this species, cultivated in European botanical gardens well into the 18th century (Knapp, 2013), was long assumed to be a relative or synonym of S. radicans
      L. or S. uncinatum
      Dunal. Once it was realized the type is actually an Asian species with a well established name, rejection was proposed and accepted (Turland & al., 1996; Brummitt, 1999:365).

    • Type location: Sweden: Cultivated in Uppsala, said to be from Peru.
